some sources say it will be late in the year before release, but we'll know for sure next week and lucky for me I don't keep everything under one roof ! Id wait longer if they release the RR model stateside

So the 900 is just too big for the country roads eh? The ZX6R is a nice compromise. I may be tempted if the ZX4R comes in around $7500, under 400lbs, ABS and KRT Green.
Yes, too big/fast. The roads around here are not friendly to a 120hp machine. I have to use a LOT of brakes. I would much rather thrash the 400.

I find the same thing in city traffic. Light & nimble does the trick, and too much power would probably lead me into foolish moves just because I can. Having to drop a gear for a really quick pass gives me the moment to consider whether this will catapult me 30 feet in the air like Yammie Noob's crash from a few years back.

Still not old enough for a Harley yet. ;)

I'm guessing the ZX4R, if it ever comes into existence, and if it's offered in non-engine-capacity-taxing-countries like the US, NZ and most of the west (where it basically doesn't make economic sense), will be offered by special order only. Same as the ZX25R. The ZX25R was offered to NZers for special order, and withdrawn when order levels weren't met thanks to its high price.
It does create a buzz for Kawasaki allows them to say they gave people an opportunity. Marketing.

I called the dealership where I purchased my ZX6R and asked if they knew anything about the ZX4R release, and they did not. He said the Kawasaki rep was just there yesterday and they are the largest Kawasaki dealer in the area.

If Kawasaki doesn't release the ZX4R on Feb 1st I'll be looking for a vintage inline 400.

I thought about buying a vintage small UJM and using it to teach myself maintenance when I had extra garage space and could fit two bikes. The idea died when we downsized to a developer-special condo-sized tiny garage.

It would be fun to have an old school bike for running around town.

So awesome. Hard to believe they actually did it. Specs look great.
Im pretty envious of him. He’s getting the first shipment of the new s1kRR-M, the zx4r, and picked up two other new rides. Whilst im sitting on a 2018 400 and no car 😪. What am i doing wrong

No, I won't be swapping my N400 for the new ZX4RR. Not that I don't like the new bike, but I just picked up a lightly used 2022 in early December and have been building a track bike out of it. So, I'm way too far down that road to swap it out anytime soon.

Probably. Especially if I can drop 30lbs off it and keep it street legal.
How much weight can be dropped is a very interesting question. I considered a CBR600 for my track bike (2007 model), which I think is about 415 wet. I am sure that undertail exhaust is fairly heavy and it has (I think) some sort of valves in the exhaust, But after that, it looked like dropping significant wet would be difficult. Supersports probably come from the factory pretty well optimized for low weight.
