Just wondering if anybody will be upgrading and what differences would be. Would imagine the zx4r will be a monster at the track.

I would be definitely interested. Would love too hear that inline 4 scream on the track! Still no word that it’s OFFICIALLY coming too the US. I was disappointed the 4 cyl 250 didn’t make it too the US. I will be heartbroken 💔 if the 4 cyl 400 doesn’t make the trip either 😰😰😰

I sold a 600cc Honda Hornet Inline 4 cylinder to buy my Z400. Before that I road a Honda CB-1 400cc Inline 4. Before that I road a Yamaha FZ600 inline 4. Had the opportunity to ride at Assen TT course in Holland, they rented the whole track. My friends scored a ZX400 for me to ride for a week, (we also toured into Germany, Nürburgring).
So for now I'm really enjoying the simplistic Kawasaki Z400 two cylinder and will not be seduced to another inline 4.....for a while.

I'm guessing the ZX4R, if it ever comes into existence, and if it's offered in non-engine-capacity-taxing-countries like the US, NZ and most of the west (where it basically doesn't make economic sense), will be offered by special order only. Same as the ZX25R. The ZX25R was offered to NZers for special order, and withdrawn when order levels weren't met thanks to its high price.
It does create a buzz for Kawasaki allows them to say they gave people an opportunity. Marketing.

If Kawasaki doesn't release the ZX4R on Feb 1st I'll be looking for a vintage inline 400.
I thought about buying a vintage small UJM and using it to teach myself maintenance when I had extra garage space and could fit two bikes. The idea died when we downsized to a developer-special condo-sized tiny garage.

It would be fun to have an old school bike for running around town.
