Just wondering if anybody will be upgrading and what differences would be. Would imagine the zx4r will be a monster at the track.
It’s already been confirmed on the Canadian website it’s only being limited to 11500rpm due to “noise regulations”How Much Power Does The 2023 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR Make?
This article seems to indicate that the US version may be neutered by a significant rev limiter. If that's the case, this will be an almost impossible sell (at least in stock form) as it would drop about 20 hp off the max output.
We reached out to Kawasaki USA about the Ninja’s rev limit and were told they were awaiting final confirmation on specs from Japan. So, like their European counterparts say, specifications may still be subject to change. We’ll provide an update when Kawasaki USA has more to tell us.
An actual limit within the 11,000 to 12,000 rpm range is about 75% of the “over-15,000 rpm” claimed redline, which may be enough to choke the U.S.-spec Ninja ZX-4RR down to a 56.3 hp output from the European figures.
I don't want to be pessimistic but it's not looking great for this model.
So this is a N400 that is twice the price with an extra 15hp (which however weights significantly more)? Again, what is the market? Not a lot of people are going to spend an extra $4-5k to have slightly fancier electronics but otherwise similar performance. It’s already been confirmed on the Canadian website it’s only being limited to 11500rpm due to “noise regulations”
Exactly this. I just don't know what they are thinking. What niche does this fill in their sportbike line?It does seem unbelievable to me that Kawasaki would try to sell rev-restricted ZX400s in North America. At 70+hp there's a market for this bike, albeit a very small one. For a restricted, 56hp version, no market at all, IMO.
Well, let's see what actually gets delivered first.Exactly this. I just don't know what they are thinking. What niche does this fill in their sportbike line?
I think the guys at Motorcycle.com are waiting for Kawasaki USA's response. I would check their site over the next few days to see if any clarification is forthcoming. So it's confirmed that they are not putting a rev limiter on the ZX-4RR that would decrease the hp to around 55 hp?
I love this overhead shot, thanks for posting.
