I did read one explanation for the clear windscreen. I bought the dark smoke but returned. At my height, I was afraid I woudln’t be a le to see over it. Is that why most purchase the clear, or is it an aesthetic choice?
I’m 5’5:” Should I be concerned about seeing over any of the Puig windscreens?
How about the Kawi extended meter cover? I hate to throw $100 out the window if I install and can’t use it.
I'm 5'11" (In stilettos) and mostly look over the screen. The Kawi meter cover is tiny, with very little wind protection. If you commute or ride in inclement weather, you'll prolly want a Puig, MRA, or whatever else; something w/ some real weather protection.
I think the smoked or darker screens look better, but I've been caught out at night, in the cold 'n rain, hail 'n such where I had to tuck in behind the windscreen, and clear is better in those situations. (y)

Since you had the smoked windshield in your hand why didn't you at least have someone hold it up to see if you could see over it?
I did but I haven’t ridden yet on faster roads, so I don’t know what position I’d be in. I’m not going to be doing 80 or 100, so I don’t know how tucked I’d be, if at all. So, if that isn’t a factor, then it makes a difference whether I can use it or not.

I got this from amazon i searched for z400 windscreen. This came with a bracket and parts to make it fit. I suspect it is a ninja 300 screen. I ordered a ninja 300 screen also it has yet to arrive. View attachment 12680
Could you take a side and cockpit view? I saw them on Amazon but I wasnt too sure if it would look funny when installed.

I ended up with a Puig BAT windscreen. Tried to get that Puig new generation from Racecrafters but they didn't have any clear in stock, so I found the Puig BAT on the Puig site, 'n they said they could get it. (Without the $50 shipping fee.)
Was easy to install, 'n seems to be of fine quality. Got it "erect" now, but figure I'll tilt it back some come summer. (It's cold in these here mountains this time of year!)
I have the extended meter cover on right now and it's fine for hot weather. I like the looks of the Bat and ordered a clear one for those colder times and for some comfort on longer rides.

I have the Puig and it looks really good. It deflects wind off my chest and does a decent job for its size. I would recommend one of the bigger ones if you want serious wind protection. I don't like the looks of them as much however. I have a couple pics in my build thread if you want to see what that one looks like.

Good luck in your search

I saw those, not sure if I like it though, for some reason I like something wider and a tad bit taller. Trying to get something that bolts on instead of the universal one that attaches to the handle bar so its not too clutter around the dashboard.

Had the puig for a year . Works good , looks good . Like it. Had my bike back for service once for jittery front brakes, before I put sintered pads on it ,the service guys wanted to know whered i get it. They said it lioked like it was made for the bike
I agree. It's the best looking screen IMO. The lines kind of look like the depressions on the rear tail. Flows so well with the style.

Hi all,

I'm about to pull the trigger on a screen for my Z400, just wanted to clarify a few things..

All I see are screens with only 2 mounting points. Am just wondering if these seem stable ? I would have preferred 4 point mounting, but I don't see that, at least in Europe.

I commute and it's mostly highway, so around 120km/h (75-80mph) for about 40-50 minutes. I'm around 6 feet tall, so I'm thinking the Puig Touringscreen should be right for me.

I'm hoping the Puig isn't too noisy and seems stable ?

Has anyone tried the MRA screen by way of comparison ?

Do please chime in with other options if there's a tall Z400 specific windshield I'm overlooking...

Thanks :)
