Hi Bird where did you buy your seat?, it is awesome. Tks and good rides!
Seat, front or back? The front is stock seat with a Lui Moto seat cover. It was a custom I believe, and came with the moto. I designed and had Lui Moto make the matching rear seat cover, also installing the gel pad. This makes the fairly crap rear seat at least somewhat functional for a passenger. You can use the photo to refer the seat with Lui Moto.

Fan of Givi. They make mounts for the 400:
Modeled by the temp Easter Stich suit from Aerostich…

E46 topcase. I think the E47 would look better. I have swapped that case through the last three motorcycles over the last 20+ years.

I have now had two of the givi mount arms fail. right at the bend just after the bolt is the latest. Love the rack but it seems the N400 version is just not up to task for my riding style and needs of gear in the trunk. Looking at either getting a welder to add some additional plate bracing or maybe see if a custom designed option from the rear seat mount is doable... The case straps to the back seat just fine as a way to get home. Just really annoying. I am aware that I am very hard on the moto and this is not untoward. But really, seems a thicker mounting rail or beafier design at the bolt/bend point is in order...

Shocked I have caught this both times prior to any total failure and case skidding across the road, down an embankment and stuff sprayed around everywhere. So far.

Am I the only one here suffering from the Givi issues? Anyone else have broken rails? I stopped 'loading' up the case with anything more than about 10 lbs after the first breakage. Still happens after a period of time. Latest breakage below. Love Givi, but these top case rails are seriously flawed.

Pretty much happens to every rail. Broke three out of four so far. I think it clearly shows the faulty issue and lack of material in this critical area.

I should mention the small rod that comes with the kit. I noticed the twist lock nuts for the rack kept loosening so I checked a video on the website. The small rod fits into the thumbscrew adjusters to achieve proper tightening. No issues since then.

Ok, Ventura rack installed. Givi plate mounted. I do like the mount design as far as attaching to the motorcycle and the design decisions related to the motorcycle attachment. However, I am skeptical of the longevity of the top box mount design. The two post, vertical, slightly wobbly top case mount design means there will be significant vibrations, which may lead to a failure at some point. Looking forward to seeing if it holds up. The ability to adjust for/aft top box placement is nice. I have it slightly forward and for single rider mode it works great. The attachment of the top case plate makes me question the full two up full back top case mounting. The Givi rack is definitely more solid in how it holds the top case mount plate, but has such a crap design and failure point at the under tail bolt mounting design at the arms. The Ventura does a much better arm mounting, but the two post mounting makes the top case a bit wobbly. Ahhhh. Compromises. I know this is a bit of an ask for a 400cc moto, but come on. Makes me want to make and sell my own design. That is next step if this doesn't work.

Ninjabird,
Your post reminded me of my first rack plan which was for a Givi box and rack. Ventura's rack design sold me on their product and I bought their pack as well since it removes very easy with two clips and slides on the rack solidly. Unfortunately, it isn't waterproof or lockable. I seem to recall my doubts about the rack to box plate and even looked into alternative mounts. Which companies' plate did you use? Before deciding on using a pack I considered using Ventura pack rack with hardware store homemade brackets to attach the box. Instead, I went with Plan B (all Ventura stuff with their soft pack.

If you have any doubts about the install I can look for my parts/instructions copies. There are specifically sized washers that are critical for parts to lineup. I remember having to redo one piece. They should have been included. They could probably email them to you as well.

Right, so I revisited the wobbly bit. Diassembled, tightened the “bolt” circled below. I drilled a hole in the mounting plates to align with the existing holes in the Givi top plate shown, using the holes indicated. Shimmed the front mounting bolts to give a better angle, more flatish. Much more solid. I dont think I cranked that bolt enough originally. They do note to give it a really good crank, so job done. Now it feels like I was hoping. Now for some testing. Excuses. Excuses.
