Just a quick question, how many of you commute to work and wear overPants? I have to wear a uniform to work so wearing regular motorcycle pants would be hard if not out of the question... I have been researching for a few days on the best overpants but just wanted to get some of your opinions as well.

-First gear Air rover overpant.. newest ones I could find the old model had good reviews.

-Alpine star mesh overpants-- cheapest ones I saw but also didn't have much protection--these also keep you cool for summer months

-First gear jaunt overpants-- good quality but I heard they are super hot in the summer

I did wear over pants for my occasional commute to a office job many years ago. They were fine but hot and heavy during the summer months. Seeing how you live in California I would image a mesh pants would be a must.

Been wearing these for 8 months https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/fly-butane-overpants

Very good pants, comfy, slip on over shorts, dress clothes, work attire just fine. In the winter you can be wearing pajamas and run to the store and throw them on and have full protection

Pretty warm and sweaty in the summer, I am looking for perforated pants and jacket for the upcoming hot season.

I have had those Alpinestars pants you listed, they were pretty comfy and moved a lot of air through the pants. I just recall them lacking the full armor protection.

You can also just buy regular textile pants a size up and slip them on over your slacks or jeans.

that is the reason I didn't buy the Alpinestars ones, they were totally lacking in protection... Seeing as I will be on the freeway driving 65-70mph I wanted a little more protection. I am just hoping I can take out the liners and make the overpants a little cooler. I will post on here once I ride with them and update everyone on how they worked out.. I went with the FirstGear Jaunt overpants.

I have a pair of Olympia Airglide 4 pants that I wear over my street pants. It’s a mesh cordura with armor and a rain cover. Admittedly along with the Airglide 5 jacket, it looks more at home on a BMW GS than on a Kawi Ninja but when I gotta wear a suit at work, it’s not like I can wear a Dainese tracksuit over my clothes ?

I just bought the First Gear Jaunt overpants. So far so good, ce level 1 protection on the hips and knees and they have pretty good airflow when you open the vents. It was low 80’s here and I didn’t break a sweat. I will keep everyone updated as I ride

I bought some Bilt Waterproof Overpants from Cyclegear earlier this month. I ride with them everywhere. They have flaps you can unzip but they do not let air into the mesh holes it reveals so I am not sure how it helps. They are causing my jeans to be sweaty and stuck to my legs. I want to get out of them when I get to a destination but they have good padding and protection. At first I thought the arm and knee protection were too low and then I realized they all come to the right place for me when I am on the Ninja. I think for rainy day or under 50 degrees they are great. I also bought a Sedici Jacket from there and it has a liner that removes so that one is holding up ok during the warmer weather. It is only around 70F at the highest here in Oregon right now so I know for sure I will need to get something different by full summer.

late on the scene i guess but did you think of this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XX1HCH4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
regular riding pants meanwhile keep your work pants neatly folded (vaccum locked) in the storage. change at work location later.

yea, it would be too much of a pain to change into my uniform after I arrived to work, so its easier to ride there in uniform, after work however I can get out of uniform since I don't need to wear it at home. Thank you for the input though! :3tens:

I need to get me some riding pants preferably over pants so I can put on over my uniform pants and boots if I ever decide to ride to work.

I've been eyeballing the sedici Alexi 2 mesh pants and jacket.

My cargo pants get to hot...

I like to buy local but I ordered most of riding gear from Amazon or Fortnine.ca.

I use Alpinestar Wake Airpants for hot and warm-ish weather with a Joe Rocket mesh jacket (I used the jacket with the liner on in cold weather, about 3 or 4 degrees Celsius).

For cold weather, I bought a second hand Bering riding suit, that comes with overpants (I think they are overpants, at least they work that way for me, lol).

I also own a pair of Scorpion riding jeans.

are riding pants or jeans supposed to be long?

I don't have any yet but they all seem to have a 32-25 inseam... can they be shortened ?

I get the riding position they come up a bit just not sure how there suplosed to work.

I don't have a lot of experience with lots of different brands of riding pants, but mine are a little long and baggy when standing while hitting just right when on the bike. I suspect this is common, just like the extra long sleeves on motorcycle jackets hit just right when on the bike.

I imagine that they could be tailored if they're much too long, but inquire carefully that the person who does the work knows how to do safety gear correctly.

I have the Scorpion Covert jeans. They were my first motorcycling pants, I bought them once I got my temporary license last year, back in the good ol' days when you were able to try stuff in the stores. :D

About Gi's you're right. This was something that my teacher told us: he shrinks them at the first wash, this way they shrink a bit less in the following washes. In fact, I read the same advice years ago concerning jeans. It may apply to all heavy cotton fabrics.
