Hi kiwi,
I think your speedos out :wink:,are you reading kl or mph
Being the considerate man I am I did the conversion for you
Twas 194kph. I need to go back and revisit that now I have my scorpion slip on fitted and the bores have loosened up a bit.

Your right there, my tuner took a look at the print outs after we did some dyno runs and he said he didnt think there would be any big gains to be made. We didnt make any in the end but that's another story.

100MPH does seem a bit slow for one of these bikes. My bike has the same ECU as yours (there's about five different variants) and Ive had 120mph out of mine on the speedo reading.
ive hit 123mph but mine is flashed so idk if that makes the difference

M y 400- only just makes 100 mph that's on a good day, one of the dealers mechanics took one round the track
and thru lights just on 101mph,
no way does any stock ninja 400 make 50bhp .
it would want **** of a lot of serious tuning to get any where near that,
it won't be done by eco flashing

50 hp is a bit of a stretch without any engine work, however you can get about 47-48 with just a full exhaust, a good air filter and a flashed ECU. Quite a few out there that have been dyno'd at that. Nevertheless, if your bike only topped out at 101 mph, there's something wrong. What sprockets do you have on? What was the RPM at that speed (assuming in 6th gear)? I've had mine at 109 or 110 mph with stock gearing and it wasn't topped out as I was only at about 11,500 rpm at best. With a 39T sprocket I hit 121 mph at Daytona clocked on the GPS, and that was at barely over 11,000 rpm. Didn't have enough power to pull my fatass through the air so it wouldn't rev up any higher than that.

Guys in WSS300 that were on Ninja 400s this year were clocked at 135 mph at Aragon at the end of the straightaway. Their bikes aren't stock but close to it since the rules are pretty strict. Not much they're allowed to do to the engines so I doubt they're more than 52-53 hp. Granted I'm sure that was in someone else's draft too but still...these can be pretty quick. 101 mph to me sounds like someone forgot to shift into 6th gear lol

but for mountain riding I 100% would choose the 400 over any bike....well maybe not over that new panigale v4s.
What if those mountains were at 3,300m? A lot less Oxygen and HP.... I am in love with our N400 but I have only driven it at sea level. I am concerned that it might not be as fun as a 650 or something like that when its gasping for air...I'll find out this summer when the snow melts.

That CBR500 video a few pages back, I hear a quick shifter at 0:51, marketing liars!!

You can't hear a QS lol...not like it makes any type of sound. There is no QS on that bike. You can even see the lack of it in the video. Just a plain simple rod, just like the 2013+ models.

Maybe? Sounded like you thought there is a QS on the cbr500...
You can hear a rapid fire gear change at 0:51. It sounds like my Street Triple's quickshifter. That's marketing lying ... the same way they'll mix in a little inline-4 occasionally (not sure if this video had any of that).

Ok...then I didn't misinterpret it lol So back to my reply...you can't hear a QS. What you heard was simply a gear change. A fast gear change. Whether it's done with a QS or without, you can't hear the difference. Sounded pretty normal to me, nothing that would indicate using sound from a different bike (like in pretty much every movie out there that shows Ducatis sounding like I4 600s lol)

Was watching some movie the other day, and both the bmw boxer and triumph triple sounded like inline-4 engines, lol. Ah, the latest Mission Impossible movie.

Insurance - a millionaire once told me (this was back in the day when a millionaire was something) "keep your overheads low". TBH I think the CBR500R is a better bike overall (but it is very very close) where i live it's cheaper to insure a 400 than a 500 - if I keep the puppy for 7 years that's (ballpark) around $2K in insurance savings...and if everything goes to **** then at least my monthly payments are down by $25
