EVAP canister removal

I don’t think my bike has it, but I may have overlooked it. I’d had a few shots of bourbon by then so who knows.

I’ve run into an issue with the purge valve.
my bike is not equipped with it, and I sold my flashed ecu to a local friend who also likely does not have a purge valve. Now I am logging a purge valve circuit fault. I am looking for the connector to add a resistor to trick the ecu. I am assuming they make one wiring harness to fit both emission levels and a plug or two may not get used on each model.
Any ideas?

what i am saying is my bike is not equipped with the evap system from the factory, and does not have a connector to add a resistor to. i am selling the bike, and going with a flash tune software is not an option at this point.

at this point i think my only option is to splice into one of the O2 sensor circuits and maybe add a terminal and wire to the ecu connctor if it is blank. going from the schematics, i'll have to add the circuit to the ecu connector and use a resistor there to stop the fault from logging. i was hoping the connector was hidden inside the harness or something but that does not seem to be the case

Yarddog, that's pretty sharp of you. You should have been a mechanic. :whistle:
i be a mekanic yo!!!

i am not enjoying working on the bike for once. it runs like crap compared to the perfromance parts i had installed. plus i am not looking foward to selling it. although when it sells i do have a tractor i am buying with the money. i need a work horse to start cleaning up my land for a homesite

I did learn today the California model has the same ecu as the rest of the United States. Hopefully the resistor will fix it. M

If you go to the workshop manual > section 3 Fuel system > page 98 ECU identification, you will see the different ECU part #'s.

US = 21175-1332, CAL = 21175-1371

Not sure if it actually matters with what your trying to do though, just passing it on.
I don’t have the manual on my phone to double check. I thought I saw the US and Cal was in the same box with the same part number. I don’t know. My ecu connector doesn’t have the terminal for the purge valve so now i have to order a terminal to fit.

The other two countries in the same box as the US are CA (Canada) and CO (Columbia).
Ah, the CA got me. lol
i ended up finding a terminal in some spare wiring that fit, from a Ford harness of all things. wired the circuit and walla, fault is cleared after the OBD drive cycle to clear faults. i have a guy coming today wanting to buy it. fingers crossed, i want to sell it fast. tired of looking at it, hard not to ride it...
