When???

OK so every one is keen to know when the bikes are actually going to be hitting show rooms around the world so that they can either collect their pre -ordered machine or have a look at one in the flesh and try it on for size or maybe find a dealer who has a demo bike etc etc.

USA I have e-mailed Kawasaki USA but not heard back yet. Someone on here reckoned his dealer was going to have one available next week?! Can we verify that.

Canada There was a dealer in BC showing them as 'in stock' on their website so I emailed him and he said 'at the end of December'.

UK Kawasaki UK replied and said they are expecting the bikes 'during March'. Gulp, must be a slow boat heading for England. :(

Australia & New Zealand The word seems to be January and my dealer has told me late January.

Obviously the Xmas / New Year break doesn't assist the whole process but there a rough guide.

Back to playing the waiting game for a while yet. :)

Kiwi,
I was told by my local dealer it would be at least a week before he had any shipped to him. That was over a week ago. I don't see anything on his website advising he has one in stock, unless someone placed money on it and took delivery when it was shipped in. He may still be waiting also, as I left my phone number for them to call me when he had one delivered to his dealership. He hasn't called me :>(

Decided on a colour yet? Or are you taking one of each?
Are there other dealerships around you or is that the one for Kawasaki motorcycles? Maybe elsewhere will have one for you?
Kiwi,
I am partial to the solar yellow/grey/black ninja 400.
Chappy, there are other dealers close to me, but I haven't been visiting any of them besides the one I usually deal with.

Yeah that option is pretty cool alright, the solar yellow highlights make it pop.
Did your dealer have an idea when he would be receiving stock?
Jacksonville Powesports here in Florida said they will be receiving one in each color sometime in January.

I talked to the dealership that put my order in today. From what I was told, most dealers are only getting enough for the people that put a deposit on one. I was also told that I can expect mine the first week of January.

Greeting from Tulsa, Oklahoma btw.

I called the local dealer for an update as I still haven't heard from him....

I called my local dealer for an update on the Ninja 400. I had placed my name on his list to look at one when he had one on the floor.
He advised me they are taking orders (people are putting money down on them) and he doesn't have any availability until the spring, which stinks for me.
I guess I can try another dealer, but I hate to put money down on a bike before I physically sit on it
Looks like if I try another dealer, the only way to get one early is to put money down and take what I can get.

Yeah it's a difficult situation alright. It would appear there is quite high demand for this new model.
My only suggestion would be to see if you can have a sit on a Ninja 300 as it should be similar.
Also, bars and footpeg location can be changed with aftermarket products if necessary. I'm expecting to have to change mine.

Yeah, I agree with you. Seat height stays the same and the 400 is a bit lighter with a tad smaller wheelbase. The 300 should be close enough in feel to know if you'll like it or not. I plan on changing mine as soon as products are available. I want another small, nimble bike but still like the aggressive seating position of the supersports so clip ons and rearsets will be going on right after my fender eliminator. Or just whichever hits the market first.

Dollar waiting on a Dime.

Well, I don't want to sound like "Johnny Raincloud" BUT:..... I went to Shaggy Powersports here in Broken Arrow, Okla. And the sales staff informed me that even with a deposit paid down. That, they said that they "may" ship the New Ninja 400 around Jan 28 to around the 1st of Feb.... And then, I was told from the co owner from Action Powersports in Tulsa that they will be shipping those from Jan 10 to the 15th....... So, it seems like we are caught up in some kind of "Guessing Game" as to when and where our New 400s can actually be shipped on a specific time and in a very expedient way for a customer to actually get their product.. I told several dealers if they can only get some in on the floor that they could "ACTUALLY" sell some of their Motorcycle products instead of just wait.....and wait....and wait...and then wait....some more!

I do know one thing. You "CANNOT" sell any Motorcycle products 'held up" in some Warehouse in (L.A. California). And its "Too Bad" that the Manufacturer could have worked all of this out to where a Cash Customer can "ACTUALLY" get their New Bike in his or hers possession and walk away as a very happy Customer!.... It could be that they are being held in LA because of the "HIGH EPA" restrictions on air quality standards and so forth. California is the "WORST" on restricting vehicles in their state. In 2013, I purchased the New Ninja 300 and on the first day I rode it home. It stalled at the first Stop Sign when I exited the freeway going to my house. It did not do that at every stop sign but it STALLED on at least 20% of the stop signs that I came to a complete stop...
The reason why it was stalling out was. It was the LEAN stock map that they had on this New Model on its Computer... I had to wait several months before they had a recall and I went to the dealership and they changed out the Computer with the recall and then it finally ran Okay after that.........

All because of the HIGH Gov Restrictions that they put on Motorcycles now. So this 'Could be the Case" with the New Ninja 400 too. They really FLOG DOWN the performance on a lot of New Bikes in this way nowadays. In speculation, It could be a LONG, LONG wait to get our New Ninja 400s here in the Tulsa, Okla area. I paid $1600 down deposit on the New Ninja 400 and with that said. I may have to wait a LONG time before I actually see my new Motorcycle... And as speaking as a long time customer. This really doesn't seem right or fair to hold up a sale of a product like this...... And if anyone has "ANY THOUGHTS' or Facts about getting our New 400s. PLEASE LET ME KNOW! ASAP! Also can anyone "light a fire" or give Kawasaki a hint as to start shipping their Motorcycles,:crying: with out all of the unnecessary waiting hassles. It would be HIGHLY appreciated! Thanks..
@Ninja400 Stealth I can feel your frustration in that last post mate, it's good to let it out. You'll always get empathy here!

Yeah it's a bummer this waiting game eh, and like you say there seems to be no consensus among the dealers in the States as to when they will be recieving them. Dealers are bad for telling a customer what they think he/she wants to hear, esp if they are laying down a deposit!

I'm thinking part of the problem is the Xmas/New Year break, but you would like to think that the bikes are in the country by now and waiting to be distributed to the dealers. I'm probably a bit more resigned to my fate down here in NZ as we are always the last to get anything but more common is delays. When my dealer told me late January I took it with a huge grain of salt. I'm expecting mid Feb at the earliest.

One thing I do know is that its being released in Japan on the 1st of Feb. Considering Kawasaki is a Japanese company you would think they would be one of the first countries (after Thailand where the manufacturing plant is) to have bikes available for customers. The distance from Thailand to Japan is only about 3K miles by sea, a third of the distance to the port of LA.

I'll send Kawaski USA an e-mail, the last two times I have contacted them they have responded within a couple of days.

One things for sure tho buddy - you will get your bike! And... in the mean time the weather will only improve for riding. Sucks for me as my summer riding season is disappearing.

Surprised that for once Asian countries aren't getting these first, I guess 400cc's is what really changes the game, more of a global product I guess.
What's bike culture like where you live? Do you see a lot of need for the 400 or are people happy enough with the 250's and 300's?
OK so back to the big when?? question. The first full work week of January is pretty much done and no one has reported anything on here so I'm assuming no news is not good news.

I have not heard back form Kawasaki USA, must be taking an extra long holiday!
I did e-mail a bunch of random Kawasaki dealers scattered across the country and the only one who replied with any thing solid was a guy in San Diego:

Kawasaki says they are shipping next month, so with any luck I should have the first couple mid February, but could also be late February.

Probably not what you really want to hear... :(

Late edit: Just had this response from dealer in TX:

Kawasaki has an enormous demand for these units for their intial factory projected release sale, and roughly a month and a half is what we're expecting here at Farmer's Branch until we will have them on site potentially. However, they are going fast and it is possible for you to reserve one and put a deposit down before we are sold out and have to re-order another cycle of inventory.

There's a theme coming through here, dang.

Ninja 400 has been delivered to a few riders in Thailand already. But of course, they are manufactured locally in Thailand. Mass deliverly should begin next week.
