Thoughts on upgrades so far, and suggestions for new upgrades :)

I have a 2018 Ninja 400 that i LOVE. (so not buying a bigger bike for a while) plus its my first bike. So far i have: replaced the clutch and brake levers, added akro exhaust, anddd put some pretty regular tires on it Sportmax GPR. Now for the plan: I bought a norton race clutch upgrade kit, a K&M race air filter, tank grips, and a new R6 throttle to reduce the throw distance that all go on this week. As well i will be sending the ECU in for some….cough TLC. Perhaps next year i will dyno map it to improve it even further. Some things im considering are the suspension replacement. I thought about doing a snorkel delete butttttt i dont want to reduce my fuel efficiency too much (with that said i might hold off on the ecu flash as well until next year). I am a commuter rider mostly and a canyon rider second. I love them turns. Just looking to see if you all had any suggestions/ideas. Thank you in advance :)

Before I got the ecu flash I was getting about 50-55 mpg out of the bike bone stock.
After the ecu and all the upgrades I'm still getting 40-45 mpg during normal street riding which isn't bad at all.

Get those mods though as all you described will make the bike better and easier to ride especially I. The canyons or back roads.

That white is my second favorite color and so clean looking on the 400.
Enjoy the ride. 🤙

It if gets cold in your area, maybe some heated grips so your riding season gets longer.

I originally got about 60 mpg. After a full Musarri exhaust and 02 eliminator plug by kawasakibrad.com the Z400 gets 56 mpg. The plug adds 3% more fuel all the time but it's now an open loop fuel injection instead of responding to the 02 sensor. I always wanted to have the ecu flashed by Norton but don't have the budget now days, but my Z400 runs plenty strong and cooler at 3-4 bars constant.

For commuting, I recommend heated grips, the Norton seat may be enough to prevent a suspension upgrade, an automatic oiler for the chain, and a taller windshield. Add a tail or tank bag for stuff, and also to hold a tire plug kit. I've used my bike for light errands with my tailbag.

I'm sure that you buy good tires even though you didn't mention them. Then keep the brakes maintained.

@DefNotaSquid, do not change to an after market air filter until you are ready for an ECU flash or dyno tune. The bike comes from the factory running lean, adding a high flow air filter will lean it out even further. I highly recommend the R6 throttle mod, will make getting to WOT so much easier!!!

GSXR600 shock should be high on your list, inexpensive and a huge improvement.
