Hi ALL, in my research for braking options (master & calipers) took me to the N3 site which has a lot of threads. One Co. that popped up for a Radial master cylinder was FRANDO out of Taiwan (not china). Very reasonable prices for Radial MCs but I couldn't find much info or reviews. Lo and behold I get my FASTBIKES mag today and inside is a review of the FRANDO Radial MC. Farmer Brod (Bruce-Editor Brother) has been racing a 675R with it and gave the FRANDO Radial MC a high rating. They run around $170.00 shipped and they are also sold thru VENHILL in England. Replacement parts & rebuild kits are available. I know they sell a 15mm Radial MC and that's what I plan on purchasing. Just my two cents but way cheaper then a RCS15.

Sounds like an affordable option. Let us know how you get on with it.

Anyone know the stock master cylinder size?

Wanting to retain the stock brake light switch on the front master cylinder, but can't find any aftermarket radial master cylinders with this feature. So I'll have to go with an axial master. Anyone know the stock master cylinder size? Is the Brembo PSC15 sufficient or should I go with the PSC16? Or will any of this make a pronounced difference. Will be upgrading the calipers, lines, pads to brembo as well. And I'll bypass the ABS.

Thoughts?

I went with a 15mm Radial from Frando out of Taiwan. $159 delivered from eBay. Was recommended for a single caliper to run 15mm but I am NOT an expert.
Why not use a banjo bolt pressure switch? Looking at the one I got with my MC looks like simple a cut 2 wires and rewire.

I think stock OEM MC is 14mm?

MHO change out MC and lines before caliper but I am NO expert.

I'm looking at 3 caliper options: FRANDO radial (100mm) adapter, TYGA Brembo (40mm) adapter or SVRacing Tokico caliper (GSX-R/SV) adapter.

With that Brembo 40mm that cheap from CarpiMoto I may take a flyer on one. I think around $130-ish delivered US? exchange rate?

Yeah, I read the Frando 15mm master is a good combo with a single caliper. And your results proved that.

Already ordered the 4P 40mm brembo caliper, sintered street pads. Next on the list is the Frando 15mm radial master, Spears bracket and fittings.

I have a OEM Brembo radial master off a 07-14 R1 and 08-16 R6.

I ran one on my SV with a 09 GSX-R front end and loved it.
You can get them ranging anywhere from $80-$125 these days, seems they keep going up in price....thanks to Craigslist and eBay millionaires (people who want to get rich off selling their junk on eBay and Craigslist at ridiculously over-inflated prices hoping some schmuck will pay that for it, thus driving up the average price)

Has anyone mounted a radial master on the 400 yet using the stock brake lines, enough flex to bend without pinching? (looks like you could probably easily twist and bend the aftermarket braided lines, speigler, etc. to reach the fitting on the bottom)

I have an adapter already laying around made by HEL that allows you to fit an axial line to a radial master if needed, prefer not to use it though.

I'm not an MC expert but I think if you go bigger then 14-16mm MC max the brakes start to lose feel? I have been told the sweet spot for single calipers is 15mm MC. I look at eBay for a ZX6R/10 MC but the cost plus a rebuild kit it made more sense to buy the Frando radial new.

Should go 15mm yes. These two radial 15mm master cylinders come with brake light switch (you’ll need to splice two wires):

Magura HC1:

Magura HC3:

Brembo’s RCS MC’s also come with a switch:

Yep, the OEM Yamaha R1/R6 are 16mm Brembo's

Which you can also see the little 16 stamped right on them

I ordered the affordable with good reviews: Frando 15mm radial MC from webike japan. The kit includes brake light switch and reservoir tank.

It appears there is no clearance with the Frando 15mm radial MC coupled with the stock throttle grip assembly. Not without rotating the throttle assembly in an awkward angle anyways. Will have to purchase the Motion Pro Rev2 throttle kit and kill switch. Oh yeah! Been wanting to try out Motion Pro's progressive throttle cam that comes with the kit. More cool parts to test out.

That looks pretty sweet, and it’s true about needing more twisting force for the shorter throw; only downside to the Rev2 yellow cam. A lighter return spring would prevent or reduce cramping on longer rides/sessions, as I have noticed my forearm gets more work now.

Seems like I've run into a fork in the road.

In the process of installing a Magura 12 mm HC1 radial master cylinder onto a Woodcraft clip-on (the N400 specific version kit). Also fitted the Brembo P4 caliper with a Spears caliper bracket and brembo supersport rotor with spiegler braided lines. The brake rotor and caliper is lined up and fits perfectly after adding a couple 2mm thick shim washers. Will have to trim the cockpit fairing (gray plastic) to provide clearance for the master cylinder and lowered clip-ons. Stupid Kawasaki and their bulky plastics.
Or stay with the stock bars and not cut into the grey cockpit fairing. Probably gonna have to pull out the dremel. Now I have to figure out how to cover the additional holes in the fairings, haha. Maybe cover it with faux carbon fiber vinyl?

What would you do to hide the ugly holes in the fairings?

I also have the Frando 5/8 x 18 MC, which I'll try next if I don't like the 12 mm feel. Both are roughly the same body dimension.

Post a picture. Is the Magura that much bigger/bulkier or why the clearance issue? I'm about to get one of those this week. I also have Woodcraft clip-ons on mine.

Yeah, the cylinder sticks further forward. The spiegler brake lines fit well considering no need for custom length and fittings.

Added an additional maybe 7-10 degrees of bar sweep, doesn't help with the clearance, but the ergos are dialed in!

I kinda fixed it!?

Should change my name to De Butcher, hehe.
