8000 rpm ok?

The engine will be fine. But any time you are running sustained high rpm for extended periods it is wise to keep an eye on the oil level. If I were running a lot of highway miles I would probably switch to a 41T rear sprocket. I found it to be great on the 500 as far making the bike feel less "busy" at high cruising speeds.
