I'm trying to figure out what boots to get. I've got that awesome $200 from Kawi for their promo thing, and was hoping to pick up a pair of decent riding boots - street, not necessarily track. What do you guys recommend?

I use these as well and love them.

I started with TCX shoes since I started riding in 2016 and I'm on my second pair of the TCX street (waterproof version). The previous version held up well but I ended up buying the wrong size (too small). I was too lazy to return them so I wore them for about a year before I decided to buy the right size in the newer version of these shoes.

2 weeks ago, I actually ordered my first pair of non-TCX shoes and ended up buying the Alpinestars SMX-1 R Vented Boots. I purchased these from MotoMummy (based out of Texas) and was able to get a 20% discount. They are an Amazon Seller but I wanted to find out if they had a current color in stock. I spoke to Danny and he said if I ordered directly from their website, he would provide a 20% discount which he did. I paid $127.96 (no sales tax and free shipping). It took about 5-6 days for delivery. Here's their website link to the SMX-1 and you can select the non-vented or vented version.

I ended up getting the vented version in black and have not rode with them yet.

The only potential issue I have with these boots is that unless you have really thick/large ankles/calves, it's impossible to get a really tight secure fit based on the side zipper and velcro closure. Some of the non-positive reviews on RevZilla detail this issue but overall the reviews are mostly positive. I have o idea if these boots will actually stay on the feet in a low/high side but also hoping to never find out. Once I get some ride time, I can provide some initial thoughts.
